A swim facility sells lanes, instructor time, and class seats — three things that all draw on the same water. Below is a complete worked setup for a six-lane pool with a separate teaching area and two instructors.
What does a swim school setup look like?
Here is the entire configuration for a six-lane facility that sells lap swimming, full-pool rentals, and lessons.

Nine Resources support four sellable products. Separating the teaching pool from the lap lanes is what lets group lessons run without eating your lane inventory.
Why is each lane a separate Resource?
Because a lane can only hold one booking at a time. Modeling six lanes as six Resources — rather than one “pool” Resource — is what makes the rest of the setup work:
- A lap swimmer books a lane using
any, and Fieldspace assigns a free one. - A swim team books all lanes using
all, and every lane is consumed at once. - A private lesson holds one lane plus an instructor using
combo.
All three coexist without a single manual blocking rule, because they consume the same Resources. See adding resources for the mechanics.
How do you rent the whole pool?
One Event, pointed at every lane, using all. That is the whole configuration.

If you rent half the pool for swim team practice, add a third Event pointing at Lanes 1–3 with all. Each sellable footprint gets its own Event.
How do you set up group and private lessons?
Both hold an instructor with combo; the difference is where they happen and how many people buy them.
Private lessons point at a lap lane, so each one removes a lane from sale. Group lessons point at the Teaching Pool instead and carry a capacity cap, so six kids share one session without touching your lane inventory at all.

Common questions
Should each swim lane be its own Resource?
Yes. A lane can only be used by one booking at a time, which is the definition of a Resource. Six lanes means six Resources. That is what lets you sell single-lane lap swims and a full-pool rental from the same underlying inventory without them colliding.
How do I rent the entire pool without selling individual lanes at the same time?
Create a Full Pool Rental Event that points at every lane Resource using the all mode. Because it consumes all six lanes, no lap-lane booking can be made for that window. Selling any single lane likewise makes the full-pool rental unavailable.
How do I set up group swim lessons with a class size limit?
Group lessons are an Event with fixed sessions and a capacity cap. Point the Event at the teaching area and the instructor using the combo mode, then set the cap to your class size. Registrations stop at the cap, and both the teaching pool and the instructor are held for the session.
Do instructors need to be Resources if they only teach group lessons?
Yes, if you want Fieldspace to prevent scheduling the same instructor for two overlapping sessions. Adding the instructor as a Resource and referencing them in the lesson Event is what makes that conflict impossible.
