Waivers in Fieldspace are optional. You choose whether your facility uses one, and you choose whether it is mandatory — a mandatory waiver blocks a booking from completing until it has been signed.
What is a waiver in Fieldspace?
A waiver is the liability agreement a participant signs before taking part in an activity at your facility. In Fieldspace it is a configuration attached to booking rather than a separate document you chase down by email.
Waivers are optional
Nothing in Fieldspace forces you to use a waiver. If your facility already collects signatures on paper at the front desk, or your programs genuinely do not need one, you can leave the feature off and it will never appear in a booking flow.
This matters for the facility running a simple court-rental operation: turning on a waiver you do not need adds a step between your customer and a completed booking.
Making a waiver mandatory
When you do use one, a waiver can be set as mandatory for any booking. A mandatory waiver is a gate: the booking does not complete until the waiver is signed.

Because the mandatory setting applies per booking, you can be selective rather than blanket-requiring a signature across your whole price list. Facilities generally draw the line by risk:
- Require it for instruction and programming — clinics, lessons, camps, and anything involving minors or contact.
- Consider leaving it off for a straightforward space rental to an adult who is supervising their own group, if your policy allows.
