Recurring bookings

Updated August 24, 2026

A Fieldspace recurring booking repeats a booking on a schedule built from four settings: frequency, interval, days of week, and week of month. Together they cover weekly team practices, every-other-week rentals, and monthly patterns like the first Saturday of each month.

What is a recurring booking?

A recurring booking is one booking that repeats. Instead of adding a team's Tuesday practice to the calendar thirty times, you define the pattern once and Fieldspace creates the series.

Recurring bookings hold Resources — the court, cage, lane, or coach the booking occupies — the same way a single booking does. A recurring Tuesday practice on Court 1 occupies Court 1 every Tuesday in the series, so nothing else can be booked into it.

What controls the schedule?

Four settings combine to describe the pattern:

The four settings that define a recurring booking
SettingWhat it controls
FrequencyThe base unit the pattern repeats on — for example weekly or monthly
IntervalHow many units to skip. An interval of 2 on a weekly frequency means every other week
Days of weekWhich days the booking lands on. Accepts more than one day
Week of monthWhich week within the month to target — for example the first or third week

Most schedules only need the first three. Week of month matters when the pattern is monthly and tied to a weekday rather than a date — "first Saturday" rather than "the 1st."

What do common schedules look like?

Common facility schedules expressed with the four settings
Schedule you wantHow to set it
Team practice every TuesdayWeekly frequency, interval 1, Tuesday
Tuesday and Thursday practicesWeekly frequency, interval 1, Tuesday + Thursday
Every other Saturday rentalWeekly frequency, interval 2, Saturday
First Saturday of each monthMonthly frequency, week of month 1, Saturday

The Tuesday-and-Thursday case is worth noting: it is one recurring booking, not two, because days of week accepts multiple days.

How do recurring bookings hold Resources?

A recurring booking occupies Resources through its Event, exactly like a one-off booking. The Event's resource mode decides which Resources each occurrence takes — a mode of all takes every listed Resource, while any takes one free one.

This matters for long series: a recurring booking on an any-mode Event does not reserve one specific court for the whole season, because each occurrence picks from the pool. If a team needs the same court every week, the Event should name that court.

Common questions

Can I book the same court every week for a season?

Yes. A Fieldspace recurring booking repeats a booking on a schedule you define with four settings: frequency, interval, days of week, and week of month. A weekly team practice on the same court is the most common case.

Can a recurring booking skip weeks?

Yes, through the interval setting. An interval of 2 on a weekly frequency books every other week rather than every week.

Can one recurring booking cover more than one day a week?

Yes. The days-of-week setting accepts multiple days, so a single Fieldspace recurring booking can cover a Tuesday and Thursday practice schedule rather than needing two separate series.

Can I book the first Saturday of every month?

Yes. The week-of-month setting combined with a monthly frequency targets a specific week — for example the first Saturday or the third Sunday — rather than a fixed date.
